Originals by Adam Grant
"As a lifelong leaner I enjoy most everything Adam Grant writes. In “Originals,” Grant shows that great ideas and exemplary leadership are both within and around us. We all possess the tools needed to make positive changes when we combine it with the courage to act. As with all of Grant’s work, the book is filled with accurate data and information presented in easily accessible ways for readers. If you are interested in improving yourself or the world around you, “Originals” by Grant will give you much insight on how to accomplish those goals. As exceptional books often do, “Originals” will have you searching out other works by the author."

The Nick Adams Stories by Ernest Hemingway
"As a teenager I loved reading Ernest Hemingway—his stories set in Michigan filled me with pride and stoked the adventure-seeking fires within my youthful chest. Fast forward 40-some years to a recent time when I was feeling a little homesick. I sought out “The Nick Adams Stories” in a quest to recapture those long-ago feelings. What I found disappointed me. The words on the page are the same, but the passing of time and a life studying history helped me to recognize nuances of circumstance my younger self could not understand. Hemingway’s words failed to resonate with me today as they did with the 14-year-old me and seemed stale and dated. I found myself wishing I had reread a novel by Jim Harrison, whose more modern writings explore similar geography and topics. Maybe that is why nostalgia has always been such a thorny subject for historians to wrestle with."
