Humanities North Dakota presents a Marilyn Hudson Brave Conversation event with Raffi Andonian.
How do we approach contested histories, and is there space for disagreement? Known for his entertaining guest appearances as TV celebrity historian, Raffi Andonian will provide a guide for understanding contested histories through the use of four questions.
The story of the atomic bomb was everywhere this summer but let’s go beyond the silver screen. By applying specific questions, communities can better foster constructive dialogue as they evaluate historic sites and events, famous figures, and public monuments. Are your historic sites worthy?

MARILYN HUDSON BRAVE CONVERSATIONS
This specific HND Â program features a presentation by today's leading problem-solvers followed with moderator-led, small table discussion. In order to build community and dialogue, groups (more than two people) will be split and seated at different tables. This is a defining feature of Brave Conversations and is routinely rated highly by participants.Â
HND VALUE STATEMENT
Any views, findings, conclusions, or recommendations expressed in this Brave Conversation featuring Caitlin Doughty, do not necessarily represent those of the National Endowment for the Humanities or Humanities North Dakota. However, in an increasingly polarized world, we at Humanities North Dakota believe that being open-minded is necessary to thinking critically and rationally. Therefore, our programs and classes reflect our own open-mindedness in the inquiry, seeking, and acquiring of scholars to speak at our events and teach classes for our Public University. To that end, we encourage our participants to join us in stepping outside our comfort zones and considering other perspectives and ideas by being open-minded while attending HND events featuring scholars who hold a variety of opinions, some being opposite of our own held beliefs.
