
Jerod Tufte
Born in Minot, North Dakota, in 1975, Jerod Tufte has dedicated his career to law, public service, and community engagement. A graduate of West Fargo public schools, he earned a B.S. in Computer Engineering (magna cum laude) from Case Western Reserve University in 1997 and a J.D. (magna cum laude, rank 1/151) from Arizona State University in 2002. Before pursuing law, he worked as a computer engineer at Motorola. His legal career includes clerking for Hon. Roger L. Wollman of the Eighth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, private practice in North Dakota and Arizona, serving as Kidder County State's Attorney, and providing legal counsel to Governor Jack Dalrymple. Appointed District Court Judge in 2014, he was later elected to the North Dakota Supreme Court in 2016. An avid runner, Jerod completed his 100th marathon in 2024. He is married to Mylynn Tufte, with whom he shares three children, and remains actively involved in state and national committees, including as a Commissioner for the Uniform Law Commission and Chair of the Court Technology Committee.
