ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Patricia Mann Grantier

Following an English teaching and counseling career in Douglas County Schools, Colorado, Pat returned to her native North Dakota, taught adjunct English classes at Dickinson State University and worked in the SW North Dakota RESP program. Although she now lives near family in Minnesota, she stays active in both MN and ND arts, music, history, literature and humanities activities, and plans to record tales of pioneer ancestors and of growing up in 1940-50's North Dakota. Pat serves on the social committee of her condominium complex, swims for exercise, and enjoys birding from her balcony overlooking the Mississippi River.

Nicole Thom-Arens

Nicole Thom-Arens is a creative nonfiction personal essayist. She finds solace in the kitchen and on hikes and returns to the page in an attempt to find meaning. Nicole currently lives in Fargo, North Dakota, with her husband, Tim, and their teenage son, Liam.

Carol Fordahl

Carol Fordahl is a lifelong resident of Adams County, North Dakota. A widow, with three grown children, she lives on the farm her late husband owned and managed. She’s in the process of writing about their experiences.

David Bjerklie

Davie Bjerklie has been a science reporter, writer and editor at TIME Magazine, TIME For Kids, and TIME Books since 1984, as well as a freelance contributor to national and international magazines and newspapers. He has been a Knight Science Journalism Fellow at M.I.T.; a Rosalynn Carter Mental Health Journalism Fellow; two-time grant recipient at the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings in Germany; and a National Science Foundation Media Fellow at McMurdo and South Pole Stations in Antarctica.

Christie Iverson

Christie Iverson is a lifelong North Dakotan with four children, four dogs and three cats.  She is a retired OB/GYN.  Her writing has been a way to discover new creativity and make new friends.
