About:

The 2016 presidential election sparked an unprecedented interest in the Electoral College among Americans. With that interest continuing to increase as the 2020 presidential contest approaches, historian Eric Burin explores why the Electoral College was created, how it has changed over time, and how it functions today.

There will be a Q&A time for you to ask your own questions about the electoral college after Burin's presentation.

Eric Burin is Professor of History at the University of North Dakota, author of Slavery and the Peculiar Solution: A History of the American Colonization Society (2005), and editor of two open-access anthologies, Picking the President: Understanding the Electoral College (2017) and Protesting on Bended Knee: Race, Dissent, and Patriotism in 21st Century America (2018), both of which can be downloaded for free at The Digital Press at the University of North Dakota's website: thedigitalpress.org.
