Hamzat teaches Research Scholars in the Honors Programs at the University of North Dakota and serves as the community outreach specialist for the city of Grand Forks. As an artist, he wrote, acted, and directed many plays. He is multilingual and a 2021 NEA Translation Fellowships recipient.
